BIC teams
A BIC Team is a team of graduate students who have been specially trained to work with scientists and engineers in order to integrate "broader impacts" activities into scientific and technical research.
The idea of BIC Teams originated with our research on NSF's Broader Impacts Criterion (BIC).
Scientists and engineers possess a great deal of expertise in the areas in which they've been trained. However, many find addressing NSF's Broader Impacts Criterion to be difficult or burdensome. The graduate students that make up our BIC Teams are all drawn from disciplines that already train their students to become experts in various types of "broader impacts" - from education and outreach to novel means of broadly disseminating one's research; from offering useful knowledge to policy makers to discussing the ethical and societal impacts of one's research.
BIC Team members will help scientists and engineers address the broader impacts of their research starting with the proposal preparation stage, during the research, and in terms of disseminating research results.
To inquire about employing a BIC Team to help with your next research proposal, please contact us and include 'BIC Team' in the subject line.
