Keith Wayne Brown did his philosophy studies at the University of North Texas. He has been a long time grading assistant in the Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies. Besides assisting the Department's founder, Richard M. Owsley, for nearly a decade (1994-2003), Keith has also helped nearly every faculty member in some capacity. His major focus is Existental Phenomenology. His expertise is in the works of Karl Jaspers and Jose Ortega y Gasset which he applies to the field of Environmental Ethics to deepen the understanding of human situatedness in the biotic community. From 1997 to 2002, Keith was Executive Director of the North Texas Heidegger Symposium. During his tenure, the Symposium went from a small regional meeting to a well respected international conference. From 1999 to 2001 he was Assistant Program Director of the Karl Jaspers Society of North America. From 2003 to 2005 he was Program Director of the Society for Phenomenology in the Human Sciences. Also active in the study of Popular Culture, Keith has presented many papers on Television, Film, and Anime as providing philosophic material for transdisciplinary outreach to the public at large beyond the walls of the University. An ordained minister in the Spoken Word Fellowship, Keith gives regular talks at UNT and around the DFW Metroplex on the subject of comparative religion. He is currently working on diverse articles and presentations to develop existential methods for environmental philosophers and scientists to locate themselves biographically in their biotic community. He is calling this method "Biotagraphy."
