Comparative Assessment of Peer Review (CAPR)

CAPR is a three year project funded by the NSF SciSIP (Science of Science and Innovation Policy) program. CAPR is studying the interdisciplinary nature of the peer review processes across 6 US and foreign public funding agencies, with particular focus on how different agencies attempt to integrate 'broader impacts' issues into the review of scientific proposals.

Broader Impacts of CAPR: Along with the Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies at UNT and its new PhD program, CSID is building capacity for the SciSIP community in the philosophy of science policy. One result of our research will be the identification of best practices of peer review.

CAPR ABSTRACT

Science of Science & Innovation Policy Newsletter

Thinking through SciSIP -- a website dedicated to providing information and analysis on the National Science Foundation's Science of Science and Innovation Policy (SciSIP) program.

CSID is also co-sponsoring a related workshop with CEPTES, "Research Funding and the Good Life," at the University of Twente in March, 2009. This workshop will examine the differences between US and EU/Dutch ways of assessing the societal relevance, or 'broader impacts' of science and technology.

This workshop is co-organized by CEPTES, and made possible by a financial contribution of the 3TU. Center for Ethics and Technology.

This project is being funded through the National Science Foundation's Science of Science Policy Program (SciSIP) under grant number 0830387
